The Sims 2 Bon Voyage is the most recent Sims 2 expansion pack ported to the Mac by Aspyr Media. This time around, users are presented with a host of new options for their Sims to pursue. Perhaps the most exciting addition to the Sims 2 lies in Bon Voyage’s new Vacation system. Now your Sims are no longer confined to one neighborhood throughout their daily lives – they can take a much-needed break by flitting away to exotic new locales. The Sims 2 Bon Voyage introduces this refreshing new system in ways that will have Sims fans rejoicing.
Much like the University expansion pack, The Sims 2 Bon Voyage allows users to move their Sims into different neighborhoods as part of the gameplay experience. These new neighborhoods come in the form of Vacation Destinations. With three fully developed default vacation spots and the ability to create limitless numbers of custom destinations, Bon Voyage allows users to send their Sims on almost any conceivable vacation adventure.
With these exciting new neighborhoods comes a wide range of activities and abilities for users to explore with their Sims. Learn to Fire Dance, sing old Sea Chanties, dig for treasure – befriend a Bigfoot! Three flavors of vacation destinations – Mountain, Island and Eastern – provide new foods, dances, greetings, Vacation Collectibles, new NPCs and new abilities based on the users preferences. Want your Sims to spend a week relaxing in an Eastern spa, receiving massages and playing Mah Jhong? It’s no problem! Trying to ease the drudgery of your Sims’ daily workload with an action-packed romp through mountainous terrain, complete with hang-gliding and exploring ancient ruins? Totally! There’s no stopping Sims fans from creating the perfect getaway vacation.
Perhaps my favorite new feature is the ability to Teleport. Learned from a secretive shadowy ninja, Teleporting allows the user to click on a spot they want their Sim to walk to and – in a puff of mystical smoke – instantly teleport their Sim without having to walk the whole way! Teleporting is far and away the coolest ability I have ever learned via my Sim! This time saving ability does not come for free, however; you must first pass the ninja’s challenge in a test of wits. So go back and reread your Philosophy 101 textbook, because the ninja’s queries will certainly test your mental acumen.
Overall, The Sims 2 Bon Voyage is a fantastic new addition to the Sims 2 multi-verse that Sims fans will want to explore to its fullest. So, Sims fans – go out and expand your experience with Bon Voyage and let your Sims take a surely deserved break. They’ll thank you for it.
