Aspyr Confirms Mac Support of Civilization V Expansion "Gods and Kings"

February 16, 2012

With excitement for Sid Meier’s Civilization V expansion called “God & Kings” announced for late this spring, Aspyr is happy to reveal that we will be supporting the expansion for the Mac and are working hard to have a Mac version released soon after PC.

The Gods and Kings expansion introduces religion with an expanded quest system that allows you to grow your empire through new scenarios and imperial strategies.

The Civ V expansion will include:

  • New Lands, Leaders and Civilizations. The expansion is complete with new buildings, wonders and 9 new playable civilizations. Among the new civilizations are the Netherlands (William I, Prince of Orange), the Celts (Boudicca), and the Mayans (Pacal the Great).
  • Religion. Using the new "Faith" resource, you'll be able to found your own religion and grow it from a simple Pantheon of the Gods to a world-spanning fully-customized religion.
  • Combat System. The Civ V expansion has a reworked combat system along with an AI that places more emphasis on balanced army composition.
  • Enhanced Diplomacy, with Espionage. In addition to being able to establish embassies with your rival civilizations, spies will now be an important part of how you conduct your foreign affairs.
  • New City-States. Two new city-state types have been added, Mercantile and Religious, adding new gameplay to a greatly expanded quest system to further the narrative of the game and making diplomatic victories more challenging.

We will keep you updated when the expansion will be release for Mac, so keep checking back with Aspyr for more information.
